Drugs seized in raid at Brakpan beauty parlour

Owner of nail and hair salon arrested.

The 28-year-old owner of a hair and nail salon in the Brakpan CBD was arrested this morning (Thursday) on charges of possession and dealing in illicit substances.

The man was arrested by EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit members, who acted on a tip-off.

“After a couple of hours of monitoring the kind of customers walking in and out of the business, metro police officers pounced and a search of the place revealed six ziplock bags of crystal methamphetamine, five of khat and dagga weighing 734.8grams,” said EMPD spokesperson Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago.

“The overall street value of the drugs seized amounts to R5 200.”

The salon owner was detained at the Brakpan Police Station and is expected to appear in the Brakpan Magistrate’s Court soon.
