
Eleven motorists suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol were arrested by the EMPD during roving roadblocks in the region over the weekend.
Conducted by members of the EMPD Public Order Policing Unit, the roadblocks were held from just after midnight on Saturday to noon on Sunday.

According to EMPD spokesperson Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, four drivers were arrested in Katlehong, two in Tembisa, two in Germiston and one each in Putfontein, Brakpan and Tokoza.
“All the male arrestees, aged between 22 and 41, were detained and are expected to appear before a magistrate soon to face charges of driving under the influence of alcohol,” he said.
