Daily crime watch

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past 24 hours (June 27 to 28):

Cases reported:

• Speeding: 2
• Sexual assault: 1
• Residential burglary: 3
• Business robbery: 1
• Possession of stolen goods: 3
• Theft: 1
• Murder: 1

Arrests:

• Speeding: 3
• Possession of stolen property: 3

Murder:

• The body of a man was found in the Magaleni Informal Settlement near Hospital Road in Brakpan North during the early hours of this morning (Friday).

It is reported that the victim, who was stabbed, had earlier been involved in an argument about money with another man.

The suspect’s name is known to police.

Business robbery:

• Five men robbed a Voortrekker Road bottle store at gunpoint yesterday (Thursday).

The incident took place around 5.20pm and the robbers fled with cash, liquor and other valuables.

Burglary:

• Gloucester Street, Kenleaf.

The home was burgled yesterday.

Stolen: Laptops.

• Etosha Avenue, Dalpark Extension Six.

The break-in took place on Wednesday.

Stolen: TVs, a laptop, bedding and an audio speaker.

• Umkomaas Avenue, Dalpark Extension Six.

The burglary occurred yesterday.

Stolen: TVs, a laptop, cellphones and other household items.
