According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past 24 hours:

• Malicious damage to property: 2
• Drunk driving: 1
• Culpable homicide: 1
• Theft from motor vehicle: 1
• Theft: 3
• Common assault: 1
• Attempted murder: 1
• Pedestrian on freeway: 9
• Fraud: 1
• Theft out of motor vehicle: 1
• Possession of drugs: 1

Arrests:

• Drunk driving: 1
• Pedestrian on freeway: 9
• Possession of drugs: 1
• Theft: 1
• Murder and theft of motor vehicle: 1

Attempted murder:

• On Sunday, a security guard was robbed of his firearm.

The victim confronted a suspect on the premises of a company along Coert Steynberg Street in Van Eck Park around 9.45am.

A struggle between the pair ensued and the gun was taken from the victim.

The suspect pointed the gun at the victim and tried to fire, but the weapon jammed.

He then fled the scene with the firearm.

Theft out of/from a motor vehicle:

• Wheel caps were stolen from a vehicle in the Location Road informal settlement, yesterday (Monday).

• A vehicle parked along Mans Street in Withok Estates was broken into on Saturday.

A gym bag containing tekkies, swimming gear, a wallet and toiletries was stolen.
