Daily crime watch

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past 24 hours (August 21 to 22):

Cases reported:

• Theft of motor vehicle: 1
• Common assault: 1
• Malicious damage to property: 1
• Robbery with other weapon: 1
• Fraud: 2
• House robbery: 1
• Shoplifting: 1

Arrests:

• Shoplifting: 1
• Theft from motor vehicle: 1

House robbery:

• Three house robbers threatened a Dalview woman with rape after they broke into her home yesterday (Wednesday).

The victim was home alone when the trio gained access to the house around 1.20pm.

She heard the front gate opening and thought it was her child returning home from school.

The victim noted a gold-coloured Mitsubishi parked outside and saw three men enter her yard.

Despite being seen, the brazen men forced open a window with a crowbar and made their way inside the house.

The victim was instructed to lie on the floor and her hands were bound with cable ties.

One man kept a watch over her, while the other two searched her home.

They demanded the keys to her car and other valuables.

When they could not find what they were looking for, the men threatened to rape her.

The robbers left with a TV, three laptops, cellphones and the victim’s car, a Volkswagen Tiguan.

Armed robbery:

• A man was stabbed and robbed by three men along Voortrekker Road, last night.

The victim was walking home from work around 7pm when the trio attacked him.

During the struggle, the victim was stabbed in the upper leg.

The robbers made off with victim’s cellphone.

Theft of motor vehicle:

• On Monday, a black Suzuki motorcycle was stolen from Athlone Avenue in Dalview.
