Stolen vehicles recovered

Investigation continues in all cases.

A vehicle hijacked in Brakpan was recovered over the weekend by members of the Benoni Flying Squad.

The white Toyota Quantum was found in Chief Albert Luthuli Park.

Further policing by the squad also saw the recovery of three other vehicles, and the arrest of one suspect.

Members on patrol in Ivory Park, Tembisa, noticed a silver/grey Mitsubishi bakkie without a number plate.

They proceeded to pull the vehicle over, and upon investigation found it not to have a licence disc or identification markings.

Members suspected the vehicle to be stolen and arrested the driver immediately. The vehicle was impounded.

The 24-year-old man faces charges of being in possession of suspected stolen property.

The other recovered vehicles were:

• A white Toyota Etios, which was found next to a primary school in Tembisa shortly after it was hijacked in Rabie Ridge, Midrand.

• A silver Toyota double cab bakkie was found in a veld in Clayville, Olifantsfontein, totally stripped inside by the unsuccessful perpetrators searching for a tracking device.

The bakkie was stolen in Garsfontein, Pretoria.

Investigation continues in all cases.

The SAPS thanked members of the community who report suspicious activities and vehicles as this often leads to the arrest of criminals, and the recovery of stolen or hijacked vehicles.
