Daily crime watch

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past 24 hours (September 19 to 20):

Cases reported:

• Pedestrian on freeway: 10
• Tampering with infrastructure: 3
• Robbery with other weapon: 1
• Theft: 1
• Common robbery: 1
• Defeating the ends of justice: 1
• Malicious damage to property: 1
• Theft from motor vehicle: 1
• Speeding: 1
• Fraud: 1
• Rape: 1
• Inquest: 1
• Shoplifting: 1

Arrests:

• Shoplifting: 1
• Theft: 1

Armed robbery:

• A male taxi commuter was robbed of his cellphone, tekkies and cash, on Saturday, last week.

The incident took place around 6.45pm after the victim boarded a white Toyota Quantum along Rangeview Road in Dalpark.

Four men were in the taxi, including the driver.

After they pulled off, two of the men attacked the victim.

One of them sat on top of him and threatened him with an okapi knife.

He was searched and robbed of his possessions.

The victim was forced out of the taxi near the Boksburg Stadium.

Common robbery:

• A man was robbed of his laptop yesterday (Thursday) at the corner of Goods Road and Jones Avenue.

After parking his car at about 2.30pm, the victim was headed to a nearby address when a lone thief ran up behind him and grabbed the laptop.

The thief ran towards Station Road.

Theft from motor vehicle:

• Two batteries were stolen from a truck parked along Airport Drive in Dalpark, on Wednesday.
