A 75-year-old man, who allegedly stabbed his wife to death in their Dalview home on Saturday, is under police guard at the Far East Hospital after he was reportedly injured following the incident.

Local police were alerted to the incident around 10.20am and proceeded to the Dodds Street residence where they were met by the couple’s granddaughter.

Inside the house, they found the 72-year-old victim lying in a pool of blood.

Capt Pearl van Staad, spokesperson for the Brakpan SAPS, told the Herald the woman suffered multiple stab wounds to the neck.

Paramedics were called and the woman was declared dead on the scene.

Her husband was arrested and the suspected murder weapon seized.

While the motive for the murder is unclear at this stage, a family member who lives at the home told police the couple had argued the night before.
