Weekend crime round-up

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

• Friday – A white Ford Ranger bakkie was stolen from Abercorn Avenue.

* Two break-ins took place.

Bags of cement were stolen from an address along Gloucester Avenue in Dalview, while a welding machine was stolen from a workshop in Prince George Avenue.

* The driver of an Isuzu bakkie was hijacked along the R23 (Heidelberg Road).

The incident took place around 11.40am.

The victim was travelling to Tsakane to make a delivery when his bakkie was bumped from behind by a black Volkswagen Golf.

The Golf then overtook the bakkie and pulled in front of it.

The victim stopped the bakkie and saw two men climb out of the Golf.

They pulled the victim out of the bakkie, covered his head and forced him into the boot of another vehicle.

He was driven to Johannesburg, where he was let go near a railway line.

* Two men were held captive after being abducted by the occupants of a taxi.

The friends boarded a white Toyota Quantum at the corner of Wenden Avenue and Station Road around 8pm.

There were three other men in the taxi, as well as the driver.

After travelling a short distance, one of the men threatened the pair with a gun and instructed them to lie down.

They were also threatened with an okapi knife and their heads were covered.

The victims were driven to a house where they were forced inside and then tied up.

The robbers demanded money and robbed the pair of their shoes and cellphones.

The victims were repeatedly assaulted.

One of the victims managed to escape and sought help.

• Saturday –  A 72-year-old woman was fatally stabbed in her Dodds Street home in Dalview.

* A red Mazda 323 was stolen from an address along Colliery Road in Kenleaf.

* A residence in Mkhankwa Village, Witpoort Estates, was broken into and cash was stolen.

• Sunday – No priority cases were reported at the time of publication.
