Anti-drug operation yields two arrests

A suspicious-looking male was apprehended, following a body search.

An anti-drug operation conducted in Brakpan and Tsakane by the EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit resulted in the arrest of two men.

The operation took place on Friday between 10am and 1pm.

“At 10.15am along Victoria Avenue in Brakpan, a 30-year-old suspicious-looking male was apprehended by the DEU team following a body search,” said EMPD spokesperson Kobeli Mokheseng.

“Ten ziplock bags of khat and 31 ziplock bags of crystal meth valued at R11 300 and R1 150 were uncovered.

“The suspect was detained at the Brakpan Police Station.”

In Tsakane, at the corner of Rolihlahla and Indaba streets, a 44-year-old man was stopped and searched.

Officers found 18 ziplock bags of dagga valued at R700, as well as R300 in cash, in the man’s possession.

He was taken to the Tsakane Police Station.

Both men face charges of possession of and dealing in illicit substances.
