Reminder: Submit comments on proposed wards towards 2021 local government elections

If you did not submit comments, you can still make your submission.

The Municipal Demarcation Board (MDB) has published the revised programme following the declaration of a state of disaster and lockdown to prevent the spread of Covid-19 for the provision of comments and inputs on the draft ward maps.

In terms of the revised programme, all municipalities that were consulted prior to the declaration of a state of disaster and lockdown have to submit their written submissions by no later than May 31, 2020.

The City of Ekurhuleni was consulted on March 12 by the MDB, after three stakeholder engagements by the city on proposed ward demarcations.

The city held public consultation meetings as per the programme below in preparation of the MDB session with the city on March 12.

  • February 26: East region, Tsakane Community Hall
  • February 26: South region, Palm Ridge Community Hall
  • March 2: North region, Rabasotho Community Hall, Thembisa.

The due date for submitting written comments and inputs to the MDB was April 30, and was extended to May 31 due the lockdown.

If you did not submit comments, you can still make your submission on the MBD form and ensure that it reaches the office of the speaker of council by no later than May 28 (today) or is emailed directly to the MDB (registry@demarcation.org.za) by May 31.

The ward delimitation form is available on the city’s website at: https://www.ekurhuleni.gov.za/images/easyblog_articles/4705/MDB-Ward-Submission-Forms-31-May-2020-pdf.pdf
