Wednesday saw the arrest of five drivers by the EMPD’s Speed Enforcement Unit in the Brakpan and Benoni areas.
Speed enforcement operations were carried out between 6am and 11am. A man was arrested in Brakpan at the corner of Heidelberg Road (R23) and Ouhout Street, near Dalpark, for clocking 121km/h in the 80km/h zone.
He was handcuffed and escorted to the Brakpan Police Station. Four other drivers were arrested along Kingsway Road in Benoni for exceeding the 80km/h speed limit. All were caught driving well over 100km/h and were taken to the Benoni Police Station.
Those arrested face charges of reckless and negligent driving and are expected in court soon.
