Weekend crime round-up

A woman was raped along Swanson Street in Brakpan North.

 


According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

• Friday – A motorcycle was stolen from an address along Hofmeyer Street in Brenthurst.

* A TV was stolen during a break-in at a home in Mitchell Crescent, Brenthurst.

* A Leachville man was robbed of his cellphone outside his home along Sapelie Avenue at about noon.

The thief threatened the victim with a screwdriver and also warned him he had a knife.

The culprit is known to the victim.

* The female driver of a silver Toyota was hijacked at the corner of Vlakfontein Road and Ergo Road near Sallies Village at 7.10pm.

The victim noticed a white car speeding up behind her and as the car overtook her, she drove into a ditch.

She found herself stuck and unable to manoeuvre the vehicle out of the hole.

Two men wearing masks appeared at her car and told her get out.

She refused and the men dragged her from the vehicle into the veld and drove off in her car.

* A car battery was stolen from a vehicle parked along Porter Avenue.

* Tiles, bags of cement and a kettle were stolen from a residence in Kinaboom Avenue, Leachville.

• Saturday – Two vehicles, a white Renault Sandero and a white Nissan bakkie, were stolen from an address along Godard Avenue in Brakpan North.
* Two business burglaries were reported.

A business in Joubert Street, Brenthurst, was burgled of speakers, an amplifier, a projector and other valuables, while cash, a grinder, batteries and buckets of copper were stolen from a company in Boundary Road.

* Gas bottles, a gas stove and a laptop were stolen from a residence along Olga Mitchell Street in Anzac.

* The Pep Store at Mall@Carnival was robbed by two or more robbers at 1.30pm.

Staff was threatened at gunpoint and shut in an office.

The robbers fled with cash and cellphones.

A case of business robbery is under investigation.

* TVs, laptops, electronics and jewellery were stolen during a burglary at a home in 20th Road, Denneoord.

* A woman was raped along Swanson Street in Brakpan North.

The victim, who was visiting a friend, went out of the house at around 11.30pm to use the outside toilet.

While inside the lavatory, a man entered.

The victim tried to leave but the man blocked her path.

He dragged her out of the yard to the street and forced her into a car.

The man placed a sock in the victim’s mouth, undressed her and then raped her.

He then took the victim back to the yard and left.

• Sunday – Bank cards, a cellphone, a TV and other household goods were stolen from a home in Moepel Street, Dalpark.
