Weekend crime round-up

A case of attempted murder is under investigation after a patron at a local tavern shot at a man he accused of stealing his cellphone.

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

• Friday – A laptop was stolen from a vehicle parked along Beechwood Street in Dalpark.

* A home in Krinkhout Street, Dalpark, was burgled of a TV, a laptop, a cellphone and other valuables.

* Cellphones valued at almost R200 000 were stolen during a break-in at a business along Station Road.

• Saturday – Bicycles, a laptop, tablets and other household items were stolen from a residence in Talbot Street, Brakpan North.

* A car parked along Muir Avenue was broken into and two amplifiers were stolen.

* A case of attempted murder is under investigation after a patron at a local tavern fired two shots at a man he accused of stealing his cellphone.

The incident took place at an establishment along Prince George Avenue at around 9.30pm.

• Sunday – No priority cases were reported at the time of publication.
