Weekend crime round-up

A house robbery was reported an an address along Olga Street in Brenthurst.

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

Friday – Two businesses were burgled.
Laptops, cellphones, cash, a GPS device and other valuables were stolen from a company along Van der Walt Road in Dalview, while cash was stolen from a shop in Voortrekker Road.

* The driver of a white Nissan NP300 bakkie was hijacked at the intersection of Springs and Van der Walt roads in Dalview. The victim was stationary at the traffic lights at 10:00 when two men approached the vehicle.

One of the men put his arm through the half-open passenger side window, opened the door and climbed in.
He pointed a gun at the victim and told him to drive, while his accomplice climbed into the back of the bakkie.

The victim was directed to a nearby field where three occupants of a silver Toyota Camry joined them.
A man from the Camry climbed into the bakkie and the victim was again instructed to drive, with the Camry following.

He was dropped off in an open field after the men had robbed him of his cellphone. The vehicle’s tracker was later found in a field in Soweto.

* A house robbery was reported at an address along Olga Street in Brenthurst. Three robbers gained access to the home at around 10:45 and threatened the three people in the house with guns. The robbers fled with cellphones, a TV, a laptop, a gaming console and jewellery.

* A motorist was robbed of his cellphone at the corner of Hamilton Avenue and Madeley Street at 19:15. A lone thief grabbed the phone from the victim’s hand while he was stationary at a stop sign, and ran off.

Saturday – A shop in Station Road was broken into and 46 cellphones were stolen.
Sunday – A welding machine and other tools were stolen from a Duncan Street residence in Brenthurst.
