Weekend crime round-up

A would-be-burglar injured himself after jumping from the roof of a house along Damara Street in Leachville.

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

Friday – An attempt was made to break into a car parked at the Mall@Carnival.
The vehicle’s locking mechanism was damaged.
A case of malicious damage to property was opened.

Saturday – A white Nissan (model not provided) was stolen from an address along Hoy Avenue.
In addition to the vehicle, an air conditioner, two bottles of gas and a stepladder, were also taken.
* A home in Victoria Avenue was burgled of a TV, shoes, monitors, desktops and a cellphone.

Sunday – A TV, microwave, radio, handbag and cellphone were stolen during a break-in at a home along Gert Bezuidenhout Street in Minnebron.
* A would-be-burglar injured himself after jumping from the roof of a house along Damara Street in Leachville.

The homeowner, who was not at home during the incident, was alerted by a family member at 01:10 who told her there was someone on the roof of her home.

When the woman and her husband arrived at the address, the intruder jumped from the roof into a neighbouring property.

He injured his leg, arm and head, and was apprehended. The woman checked her home and found a sliding door had been damaged in an attempt to force it open.
