Bokkie Park livestock temporarily relocated due to wet weather conditions

Bokkie Park livestock temporarily relocated due to wet weather conditions.

Brakpan patrons of the Bokkie Park in Boksburg will now have to visit the park’s livestock at the Bunny Park in Benoni, where they are being temporarily kept.

The recent heavy rain has overly saturated the soil at the Bokkie Park causing various health challenges for the livestock.

The park houses livestock and farm animals and has been hard hit by the issue of overly saturated soil.

As a result, the City of Ekurhuleni resorted to relocating the sheep, goats and cows to the Bunny Park until the end of May.

This is to prevent the animals from contracting hoof rot, a bacterial infection associated with continuous wet conditions.

The pigs and ostriches will stay at the Bokkie Park as they are less susceptible to hoof rot.

Once the soil at the park is a bit drier, the relocated animals will be brought back.
