Two men delivering milk at a tuckshop in Sherwood Gardens on Monday afternoon fell victim to hijackers.
According to information received from Brakpan police, the incident took place at 16:25 along Abramowitz Street.
The driver of the delivery vehicle, a white Ford Ranger, was waiting for his colleague to return to the vehicle after collecting cash for the delivery.
Two men, both of whom were brandishing firearms, pounced as the driver’s colleague returned to the bakkie.
One of the gunmen pushed him and a shot was fired. The other hijacker appeared at the driver’s side and opened the door.

The driver fell out of the bakkie and the hijackers climbed in and sped off. The hijackers also made off with milk valued at R2 500, cash and the victims’ cellphones.
There has been an increase in these types of crimes in Brakpan recently. It was reported in last week’s Herald how the driver of a bread delivery truck was hijacked at gunpoint in Mkhancwa Village, Maryvlei, on May 29.
The truck was later recovered in the informal settlement.
In the week prior, it was reported two delivery drivers were robbed at gunpoint in separate incidents on May 20.
These robberies took place at addresses along Essex Street in Dalview and Gifboom Avenue in Leachville. In both of these cases, parcels from the delivery vehicles were stolen.
