Shooters dominate annual event

Junior teams from Brakpan participated in the tournament.

Leachville Shooters dominated the Youth Day football and netball tournament hosted last Thursday.

The annual sports day saw junior teams from Brakpan get together for the event.

The Shooters youngsters won all the age groups except the U11 football division that was won by Esanzalelo FC, beating Peace Lovers 1-0 in the final.

The U13 tournament was won 1-0 by Shooters aginst Dalpark FC. The hosts also won the U15 section by thrashing Sulis FC 6-0 in the final.

In the U17 final, Shooters beat Kalawa FC 5-4 on penalties after the match ended at 1-1 at fulltime. The hosts also dominated the netball tournament.

They won the U11 tournament as they had no opponents in the final, so it was called a walkover. Shooters beat Mangeni Netball Club 23-3 to take the U13 division.

They beat Mgongo Netball Club 18-5 in the U15s final.

The same clubs faced each other in the U17 category. The hosts made a clean sweep in the netball by taking that final 24-4.

There was also a masters football match which saw Leachville veterans take on the Brakpan Sports Association (|BSA) mature team.

BSA emerged victorious in a high-scoring affair as they beat the hosts 7-4.

Leachville Shooters released a statement saying this year’s event was bigger and better than ever as they thanked the parents and sponsors who helped with organising the tournament.
