Some excitement, some frustration at Laerskool Dalview voting station (VIDEO)
Voters share their experiences at the Laerskool Dalview voting station.
Registered voters have been queueing at the Laerskool Dalview voting station since early this morning (November 4) to cast their ballot in the South African Local Government Elections.
Some were excited, like first-time voters Ethan Kruger and Deiniol Cloete, while others were passionate about the importance of voting like Divan Paasch, who said: “If you don’t make a vote, you don’t have a say at the end of the day.”
A few were frustrated by the organisation of the day.
“We have been here since 06:30, and we are only reaching the gate now,” said one frustrated resident, Odette Nagel.
“Now they’re calling all the surnames, A to G, to go into the premises first. So, it’s really frustrating, we’ve been here early, the admin inside is a mess, so it’s not a pleasure to vote, but we will stand here and do our part for the country.”
Another frustrated resident, Marietjie Scheepers, says she’s been voting at the Dalview voting station for years, but only now encountered a problem.
“I’m from Wordsworth Street. I had a problem where they told me that Wordsworth Street is in Benoni. I told them it isn’t, I’ve been voting at Laerskool Dalview for 41 years.
“The lines are so disorganised, sometimes they take from the back, others from the front. No, I don’t want it to be like this. And the ballot papers are so big, how many until the boxes are full? It’s pathetic,” she said.
