J&G hosts second soup kitchen
The shop hopes to hold these feeding schemes once a month.
J&G Auto Electrical and Mechanical held their second soup kitchen last Friday.
Jan Germishuizen and Ordette Lottering from the company started their feeding scheme to feed homeless people in Delmas, but have recognised a need in Brakpan.
As such, they approached several businesses for sponsorships to help prepare the soup and held their first soup kitchen in Brakpan across from their shop.
Now they’ve held their second one with the help of Lag en Leer afterschool care centre, Hanlies Cleaning Service, Krap & Kry, Housewives Trust and Republic Bus Truck.
Among them, they managed to make 10 large pots of chicken and vegetable soup, buy 60 loaves of bread and some vetkoek, and feed around 30 people in the biting cold.
The pair and their collaborators plan on hosting the soup kitchen once a month.
“We hope to feed as many people as we can. It’s a tough world out there and people are hungry,” Ordette said.
