NPO’s garden feeds residents
The organic food garden is being harvested, and the public can purchase vegetables from Siyabonga Africa.

Siyabonga Africa’s organic vegetable garden, planted on Mandela Day, has come to fruition and harvesting started on August 15.
They sold or donated the harvested spinach to other NPOs and struggling community members.
The vegetable tunnel holds over 3 000 plants, and anyone from the community can buy affordable organic vegetables at the Siyabonga Africa premises, Mondays to Fridays, between 08:00 and 16:00.
“Siyabonga Africa is proud to announce the opening of our organic food garden, which will serve as a social enterprise,” said Jacob Legodi, the communications practitioner for the NPO.
“Our initiative will help generate employment opportunities, helping to combat the unemployment crisis in SA.”
The income generated from this enterprise will be reinvested to support educational programmes, enabling the organisation to provide skills development training and food assistance to those in need.
