Tweedy Park elderly enjoy a wonderful Christmas
The residents received hot meals, cold drinks and grocery hampers to celebrate the festive season with.
The elderly residents of Tweedy Park were treated to hot meals and food parcels over the festive season thanks to a project that was initiated by the Brakpan CPF.
“Initially, the call to donate or support the drive was for 20 people, but with the grace of God and many other role players and community members we reached a new target of 90 grocery hampers,” explained Jessy Naicker, CPF Brakpan’s expo patrol officer and Sector 4 deputy chairperson.
On Christmas day, 20 elderly residents received hot and cold beverages, sandwiches and biscuits as well as food parcels with bread, fruit and hygiene packs.
A further 50 food parcels were delivered at the doors of elders who couldn’t make their way to the Eric Holdtman service centre hall.
Twenty more parcels went to a caretaker at the centre to distribute to 20 needy residents.
On December 26, some residents were again spoiled with a hot meal, this time from Mochachos Carnival Mall and KFC, along with bottles of water.
