Weekend crime round-up
An overview of crimes reported to local SAPS from April 26 to 28.
The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past weekend:
Friday – Tools valued at R8 000 were stolen from a vehicle parked along Victoria Avenue.
• A scooter was stolen from an address along Jones Road.
• A business in Colliery Road, Rand Collieries, was burgled of electrical appliances.
Saturday – Electrical components valued at R23 000 were stolen from a business in Coert Steynberg Street in Van Eck Park. A suspect was arrested in connection with the theft.
Sunday – A Toyota Fortuner was stolen from an address along Derby Avenue.
• A couple was robbed in their Rand Collieries home by two intruders. The robbers gained access to the Gloucester Avenue property at around 05:10 and woke up the sleeping man and woman.
They were threatened with a gun and the men told the couple they would shoot them if they screamed.
The robbers fled with an iPhone, a laptop and other valuables. A case of house robbery is under investigation.
