A dispute over a card game led to the death of a 37-year-old man from the Plastic City informal settlement on Sunday morning.
The victim was stabbed in the chest after an altercation with another man.
Police reports reveal the incident took place at about 03:30.
It is believed the deceased was playing cards with his family when the other man arrived and asked to join.
While they were playing, an argument ensued between the pair and the man took out a knife and stabbed the victim.
He then fled the scene. The victim was taken to the Far East Rand Hospital where he died.
After being notified of the death, an officer from the Brakpan SAPS responded and went to the hospital.
A murder docket was opened and a search for the perpetrator is underway.
