SAPS and CPF to hold sports day

There will be a visit from celebrity soccer players.

The Brakpan SAPS and CPF will hold a sports day to create awareness about crime and gender-based violence at the sports grounds in the Mgongo informal settlement (Brakpan Old Location) from 09:00 to 17:00 tomorrow (Saturday).

“We encourage the youth, adults and children of all ages to attend and small businesses to trade on the day,” said Constable Audrey Buthelezi, Brakpan SAPS corporate communications officer.

Alcohol will not be allowed at the event. Participants of all ages will play soccer, netball, morabaraba, skipping and other indigenous games.

Celebrity soccer players will also make an appearance.

“This is for the youth. Let’s uplift; let’s encourage; and let’s support them. A child in sports is a child out of court,” Buthelezi concluded.
