Horror home invasion ordeal for Muir Avenue family
One of the intruders was reportedly an old man.
A Muir Avenue couple and their children were held up in their home on Monday evening by robbers armed with guns and a spade.
According to police reports, the family was alerted to the intruders at around 20:20 when one of the children came running into the house shouting, “they are coming”.
The father was about to go outside to check when a man armed with a gun entered the house. The gunman, who was described as old, instructed the family to lie on the floor.
Two more robbers walked into the home, one brandishing a gun and the other a spade. These men were wearing masks.
The robbers searched the house and took cellphones, jewellery, smart watches, speakers and a TV. They also took two vehicles, a silver Haval Jolion and a metallic blue Volkswagen Polo TSI.

In a house robbery on October 3, a Dalpark resident was ambushed by two robbers when he arrived home.
The Kipling Crescent resident was entering the house at around 22:45 when he was grabbed from behind.
His attacker, a man armed with a gun, then instructed him to lie on the floor. The gunman, who was joined by an accomplice, then demanded the resident’s wallet.
The resident told them he doesn’t own a wallet, and the robbers headed outside to his car.
A bag containing a large sum of cash was in the resident’s vehicle, which the robbers took before fleeing.
Both incidents are under investigation by Brakpan SAPS.
