ReboundSA’s annual Bounce-A-Thon raises funds for Cansa

Jumpers worked up a sweat for a worthy cause.

ReboundSA held its fourth annual Bounce-A-Thon fundraiser for Cansa on October 26, and the Dalview branch stepped up to the plate, or rather trampoline.

Seventy-four studios and instructors participated in the Brakpan event hosted at Rose Tulee and organised and instructed by Maruske du Preez, the owner of Jump-Aholics Dalview.

Those who couldn’t make it to a class in person could join in via Zoom, and a one-hour session cost R150 per person, all of which went directly to Cansa.

Dalview had five one-hour slots, ensuring the jumpers worked up a sweat.

Carmen Russouw (A&C Russouw Attorneys) and Maruske du Preez are the organisers of the Brakpan event.

They also had two hampers up for raffle, one with expensive goodies and a voucher for a free consultation at A&C Russouw Attorneys valued at over R1 000 donated by A&C.

The other was a workout hamper, with equipment and supplements perfect for rebounding workouts.

There were also cupcakes for sale to raise more funds. Rose Tulee also gave away prizes and made the venue available for free, for which Du Preez is very thankful. In addition, Neon Party and Arcade Hire decorated the venue.

“The day’s goal was to have fun and create a platform for the community through which they could make donations,” explained Maruske.

Maruske du Preez owns Jump-Aholics Dalview and instructs the classes.

“I want to give people hope and make a difference in someone’s life every day. That’s why the event was so special to me. Through me, the community had a platform to make a difference to cancer patients.

“I thank everyone for their donations and support. Special thanks to the ladies who stepped up so I could take a breather: Lizelle Fourie, Kaylene Sieberhagen, Ilse Engelbrecht, Lise Bergonzi, Madelaine du Plooy and Carmen Russouw,” she said.

On the day, several cancer survivors showed their strength by joining a class and keeping up well with the other jumpers. Ashley Britz, Reinier Kunneke, Sue van Wyk, and many more shared their stories.

The event is held annually in October to commemorate Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the jumpers wore pink to show their support.
