SAPS collaborate with mall car guards

The guards were engaged to be vigilant and professional.

Colonel Robert Makopo, the Brakpan SAPS Vispol commander, and Captain Pieter Booysen from the Brakpan crime intelligence office engaged with a group of car guards at the Mall@Carnival on January 14.

This was in response to several thefts of and out of motor vehicles in the mall’s parking areas.

Mall management and the centre’s security company were at the engagement with the team leader and supervisor of the car guards.

Makopo reminded the car guards that they represent mall security and should never compromise the safety and security of shoppers and their property.

“They were encouraged to practice vigilance and immediately report any suspicious person or vehicle to supervisors. Mall management appreciated the SAPS’ intervention in this regard,” said Brakpan SAPS corporate communication officer Constable Audrey Buthelezi.
