Attempted murder investigated after Dalpark shooting incident

Police are on the hunt for the gunman and his accomplice.

A 34-year-old man was shot in the leg by the driver of an unidentified silver car in Dalpark on Sunday evening. Police were notified of the shooting along Wordsworth Street at around 21:25.

According to SAPS information, upon the responding officer’s arrival, he found a group of CPF members, emergency services personnel and private security officers.

Paramedics were attending to the injured man, who sustained a wound to his left leg. The events leading up to the shooting were not disclosed.

It is reported, however, that an occupant of a house heard the shots and then the victim’s screams, and rushed to the man’s aid.

A silver car with two occupants was seen driving away, with the driver firing shots towards the victim. A shot was fired at the person attempting to render help, who then fled back inside the yard for safety.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention. An attempted murder case is under investigation by Brakpan SAPS.
