Court hands down imprisonment and deportation sentence to illegal immigrant

Malawian national Patrick Munyenga (39), who was living in Boksburg, was arrested in Brakpan on November 19, 2024, after presenting a falsified Malawian passport.

He first appeared in the Brakpan District Court on November 20, 2024.

On March 12, he pleaded guilty to illegal immigration, and was found guilty and sentenced on the same day to a combined 36 months imprisonment and deportation after the sentence is served.

An additional five years suspension was administered, granted that no other crimes are committed.
