WATCH: Ditch in Brenthurst park poses danger
The ditch is in a frequently used park, and the public is warned to avoid it.
A long, deep ditch appeared in the playground of the park on Lester and Trollip streets in Brenthurst on April 17.
The ditch is deeper than it appears and hidden by tall grass, and there are concerns it will collapse into the stormwater pipe below, which itself is several metres deep.
Many residents use the park, and many school children from nearby Hoërskool Die Anker pass through.
Freedom Front Plus PR Clr Riaan van Zyl warns the public to avoid the park and has put hazard tape around the collapsed area.
According to Van Zyl, municipal workers have inspected the site, but the turnaround time for repairs is unclear.
Comment is awaited from the CoE.
