Brakpan SAPS and CPF help NPO spread hope

Community involvement is at the centre of police work.

Brakpan SAPS sector managers and CPF members recently assisted during an outreach initiative in the Mkhancwa informal settlement in Maryvlei.

The initiative is run by Village of Hope, an NPO headed by Tumie Ingrid Masolane, which provides meals to children from the settlement.

Village of Hope operates by the slogan Mabadle Abantu (Let the people eat). Pick n Pay Mall@Carnival assists the NPO by sponsoring food.

Children arriving home from school on the day were treated to a feast of sweet treats, and served by the team. They were delighted to receive baked goodies such as cake, cream doughnuts, milk tarts and more.

Brakpan SAPS Sector 3 commander Sergeant Phatudi Mashifane stated SAPS welcomes the collaboration with different stakeholders, including local businesses and NPOs.

He further encouraged teamwork to ensure communities and law enforcement maintain strong relations as this is how trust is rebuilt and respect is earned.
