Golfers raise funds for toddler with rare cancer

After a year’s break, the Bogey Boys are back with their annual charity golf match on September 20 - this time teeing off to raise funds for little Miné Steyn, who is bravely fighting a rare childhood cancer.

The Bogey Boys, based at the State Mines Country Club, will host their annual charity golf game on September 20. The event, to be held at the State Mines, sees the Bogey Boys facing off against the Royal Oke’s from the Royal Oak Country Club.

The Bogey Boys traditionally host a charity match with another team each year, though they paused in 2024. Now they return with purpose, rallying support for a special cause – little Miné Steyn.

Miné is battling adrenocortical carcinoma, a rare and aggressive childhood cancer. Her family has already held several fundraisers and continues to raise awareness about rare cancers in children.

Treatment remains challenging and costly, prompting the two golf teams to name Miné as this year’s beneficiary. While several sponsors have already come on board, the teams are calling on local businesses to join the effort and help make a meaningful difference in Miné’s life.
