NPO brings comfort and compassion to vulnerable children
Thanks to the support of local partners and volunteers, Village of Hope ensured that children in Plastic City were fed, safe, and smiling.
Children from the Plastic City informal settlement were treated to warm meals and heartfelt care on August 5, thanks to the compassion of Village of Hope founder Tumie Masolane and her dedicated team.
Children were collected from their homes on the day by Tumie.
“I was not aware their parents appreciated our work that much. They released those little ones into my care and we had the best day,” she said.
“After our moment with them, I also helped them to cross the road to make sure they got home safe.”

With the support of Pick n Pay Mall@Carnival, Pick n Pay Springs Mall, Ruby Lebethe and another volunteer that is helping with food collections, the children enjoyed hot soup with bread rolls, a sweet treat and fruit.
“Seeing their cute little smiles confirms that we are doing good work,” said Tumie.
Tumie was accompanied by Fedile Sekonyela and Matsietsi Matla, also from Village of Hope, which is a registered NPO.
“The need is growing every day and any form of donations from our community will be very helpful,” added Tumie.
