Motivational speakers encourage women in blue for Women‘s Day

The SAPS members and their guests stood out on the red carpet in their Sunday best in the colour of royal blue.

Brakpan policewomen and their guests dressed up in royal blue and gold for a fancy Women’s Day event at the State Mines Country Club on Friday, where motivational speakers regaled them with testimony, were treated to good food, and their spirits were lifted.

The day started with a breakfast of scones and spicy vetkoek with mince and vegetables, as well as coffee and tea, before the purpose of the day was declared: “We are here as women today to remind ourselves and each other about our significance.

“We remind ourselves of the power within us as women, the love we deserve, and not to forget who we are as individuals. Let’s not take for granted what the women before us fought for. We are queens,” it was stated.

Apostle Noma Ndabula followed with her testimony. Her husband left her with five children.

“I needed to do something with my life, so I studied to the doctorate level,” she said.
After doing so, she secured a good job at a school as the school counsellor. She can now help her eldest daughter, who studies medicine.

She listed qualities of a noble woman, stating that such a woman is brilliant, charitable, distinguished, extraordinary, gracious, honourable, and great in the eyes of others.

“You’re not just an ordinary woman sitting here. People may look down on you because you lack something, but God does not care about qualifications. I cannot stay low when God has invested in me, and I am created for good work,” she continued.

Several other speakers also took to the podium, including Lerato Maris, Rene Combrink, and Captain Margaret Mabitsela. There were gifts and prizes for the women with the most unusual item in their handbag, the smallest shoe size, or those who were identified as exemplary women.

After a delicious lunch, the women shared a final toast and released blue and gold balloons into the air. The free use of the event hall by the State Mines Country Club, the sponsorship of the scones and muffins by DNS Tasty Treats, and cupcakes and cold drinks by Plus Super Perry’s made the day possible.
