Brakpan cricket hero recognised after 23 years of service
Cricket South Africa, Easterns Cricket, and KFC Mini-Cricket paid tribute to Brakpan resident Logan Naina for over two decades of dedication to grassroots cricket.
Cricket South Africa, Easterns Cricket, and KFC Mini-Cricket honoured outgoing Brakpan coordinator Logan Naina for 23 years of service to Brakpan, Easterns and Mini-Cricket.
Naina, who is a Brakpan resident and a former Brakpan school principal, was recognised during a seminar held in Boksburg on August 15.
Reflecting on his long service, Naina told the Brakpan Herald a standout moment for him over the past two decades was attending his first National Seminar in the Golden Gate Reserve in 2005 where he gave a presentation on behalf of Easterns.
“Another would be my Cricket South Africa National Award for KFC involvement in the 2022/23 season,” he said.

Asked if he plans to stay involved in community development, Naina explained he is now working with two non-profit organisations, the African Eye Institute (AEI) and the Innervoice Ethics Centre.
AEI does vision outreaches to underprivileged schools, where learners and staff are screened and spectacles are provided free of charge when necessary.
The Innervoice Ethics Centre is an initiative to teach the youth, entrepreneurs, and the general public about ethical decision-making and doing good for others.
“We have initiated and are supporting two feeding schemes, along with Rise Against Hunger Africa and we plan to increase this number significantly,” he said.
