Brakpan weekend crime round-up: Gunpoint robbery on N17, burglaries and more
An overview of crimes reported to Brakpan SAPS from August 22 to 24.
The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past weekend:
Friday – TVs, a laptop, bottles of liquor and mountain bikes were stolen during a break-in at a residence along Olga Mitchell Street in Anzac.
• A car parked along Stoffberg Avenue was broken into, and a laptop was stolen from the vehicle.
• A cellphone was stolen from a car parked at the corner of Voortrekker Road and Park Street.
• A truck driver who stopped on the N17 highway near the Dalpark Toll Plaza to get some rest fell victim to criminals.
While stopped, the driver heard a knock on the window at about 02:30 and was confronted by a man pointing a gun at him.
The gunman told him to keep quiet and not to move. The driver then saw more men around the truck, who were removing the tyres. The group fled with six tyres.

Sunday – A home in McMillan Avenue, Brakpan North, was burgled of a TV, a sound bar and a laptop.
• Two speakers, an alarm system box, wine and other valuables were stolen during a break-in at a business in Joubert Street, Brenthurst.
