Village of Hope brings joy to children at Mgongo informal settlement
Village of Hope reached hearts and stomachs, but demand far outweighed supply.
Local NPO Village of Hope recently brought smiles and warm meals to the children of the Mgongo informal settlement along Location Road. The children were overjoyed as the team arrived in the area to offer support and kindness.
The NPO’s founder Tumie Masolane was joined on the day by Village of Hope team members Tlhokomelo Masolane and Kagiso Mokwepa, where children were treated to bread rolls and bread, accompanied by soup and a sweet treat.
The only challenge faced, however, was the overwhelming response as not only children, but parents and other community members also joined the queue.
Unfortunately, the food ran out before everyone could be served, highlighting the deep need in the community. This latest outreach would not have been possible without the generosity and support of Pick n Pay Mall@Carnival, community members assisting with transportation, and the Mgongo CPF.
“The need continues to grow every day. We are calling on individuals and businesses to join hands with us for the betterment of our community,” said Tumie.
