Law enforcement agencies are monitoring the situation to secure the facility before it is reopened.

Customers who use the Weltevreden Landfill Site are urged to use nearby landfill sites in the meantime.

The alternative landfill sites include Rietfontein in Kwa-Thema, Rooikraal in Dawn Park and Platkop near Katlehong.

The Weltevreden Landfill Site will be opened once the situation returns to normal, and it will be communicated on the city’s communication platforms.
