Murder cases mount in Plastic City after second weekend of killings

The weekend killings mark the second in as many weeks.

The bodies of two men were discovered in the Plastic City informal settlement on the evening of August 30. It is unclear whether the two incidents are connected

According to police reports, Brakpan SAPS were called to the scene at about 19:25. Upon arrival, the responding officer was met by a woman, allegedly the girlfriend of one of the deceased, who led him to the body.

The man was found lying face up with multiple wounds to his stomach, hip, chest, shoulder, back, buttocks, and both legs.
The nature or cause of the injuries was not disclosed.

While still on the scene, the officer was approached by a community member who informed him of a second body located in the nearby veld near a tree-lined area.

The community member guided the officer to the location, where another deceased man was found with a visible wound to his left eye.

Police have opened two cases of murder. This marks the second consecutive weekend that a murder has occurred in the settlement.

As reported in last week’s Brakpan Herald, the body of a young man was found outside a shack in Plastic City on the morning of August 23.

The resident of the shack made the discovery at around 07:20.

The deceased, who was identified as a 20-year-old who lived in the settlement, sustained stab wounds to his upper body.

The victim was reportedly related to another man who was also recently murdered in the settlement.
