Learn mindfulness and stress relief at Pause for Peace Workshop

The session will provide attendees with practical experience in this method, teaching them how to pause and connect with the true peace within.

Brahma Kumaris invites the Brakpan community to its introductory session for the Pause for Peace project, which will take place from 15:00 to 17:00 on September 6 at 13 Court Avenue, Selection Park.

The Pause for Peace project originated in Kenya during a time of extreme political unrest. It offers people a chance to pause, connect with their inner selves and tap into the highest source of peace.

The session will provide attendees with practical experience in this method, teaching them how to pause and connect with the true peace within.

“Pause for Peace is a powerful technique: pause, take a breath, step back, observe, notice your thoughts, feelings and reactions. Redirect, gently shift your focus to something positive or constructive,” facilitator Pratiba Daya explained.

She also highlighted a common mental health challenge, stress, and how mindfulness can help.

“The power to reduce stress lies in being present. This is where practices like mindfulness and meditation play a vital role, helping us stay centred, observant, and grounded in the now.

“Mindfulness means observing your thoughts, emotions and environment without judgment. It’s not about stopping thoughts but learning to step back, notice them and choose,” she said.

The event is free and will feature guest facilitator Gloria Santos. For more information, call 063 829 5010.
