A motorist abandoned his car and fled after being approached by armed hijackers in Dalview on September 19.

According to police information, the victim, travelling in a silver-coloured Toyota Corolla, was stationary at the traffic lights at the corner of Carmyllie Street and Van der Walt Road at around 14:00 when he noticed a white Volkswagen Golf pull up.

Three armed men exited the Golf and approached the victim’s car. One gunman moved to the passenger side while the others surrounded the vehicle.

The victim managed to get out of his vehicle and flee the scene on foot, leaving the engine running and the keys in the ignition.

One of the hijackers immediately got into the driver’s seat of the Corolla, and drove off.
