Seven arrested, goods seized in Plastic City raid

An operation in the informal settlement led to arrests and the confiscation of potentially dangerous items and goods.

Seven undocumented people were arrested during a law enforcement operation held in the Plastic City informal settlement on September 16.

The operation was conducted by EMPD Brakpan precinct officers, with support from other precincts. Officers raided the area from 09:00, with no vehicles permitted to enter or exit.

In addition to the arrests, items including an electric pump, a sword, spades, a refuse bag full of tobacco, and a wheelbarrow were confiscated.

The operation follows recent unrest in the settlement.
