CoE sees less water use than licensed to provide
The lower use ensures a more stable supply.
The CoE, aided by water users, maintained an average water consumption of 987 703l daily over the last six months, below its licence target of 1 022 000l per day.
This news makes the city a leading Gauteng water champion, with the aforementioned stable water consumption since March.
The CoE thanks all who adhere to its water conservation efforts, including the Level 1 water restrictions declared last year.
Residents are urged to continue to use water sparingly amid warmer temperatures.
Level 1 water restrictions reminder:
• No garden watering between 06:00 and 18:00;
• Do not use hosepipes or sprinklers to clean driveways or sidewalks; use brooms or buckets;
• Cleaning a car with a hosepipe is prohibited;
• Using potable or municipal water to fill swimming pools is disallowed.
Water-saving tips to keep in mind:
• Limit showers to under five minutes and avoid filling bathtubs;
• Install water-efficient taps and shower heads;
• Water gardens only before 06:00 or after 18:00 to reduce evaporation;
• Run dishwashers and washing machines only with full loads;
• Fix leaking taps, toilets and pipes promptly.
