Two Brakpan power lifters grab the gold at world champs
For their first year competing, Robert Krisch and Pieter Vorster did well at the Strict Arm Curl and Freestanding Curl Federation's world championships.
Robert Krisch and Pieter Vorster, both known for their slap fighting, are now world champions in their divisions of Strict Arm Curl and Freestanding Curl after competing in Durban on November 3.
Robert broke his own record, the national record, and the world record in his division, and holds the title of champion in the Men’s Master Class 2 (age 45–49).
He competed in the 100kg to 110kg weight class in the strict arm curl item, breaking the world record by lifting 67.2kg.
Despite this being only his second competition in the sport, Pieter holds the title of world champion in the Men’s Master Class 4 (age 55–59).
He competed in the 140kg-plus weight class, lifting 50kg in the strict arm curl and 70kg in the freestanding curl.
“I thank my sponsors, especially Brakpan Paint and Accessories, who enabled me to become world champion,” said Pieter.
The two sportsmen made Brakpan proud by competing against powerlifters from more than 15 countries.
