Help keep Muriel Brand School learners warm and safe this winter

A simple hot water bottle could help keep a learner warm and prevent serious injury this winter. Muriel Brand School is appealing to the community for donations to support its wheelchair-bound learners during the colder months.

As the colder days settle in, many of the learners at Muriel Brand School rely on hot water bottles to stay warm through the school day.

Many learners, however, currently make use of ordinary plastic bottles filled with boiling water.

Because most of the learners are wheelchair users and have little to no feeling in their lower extremities, these bottle often cause serious burns and injuries without them even realising it.

The school is appealing to the community to assist them in making winter safer and warmer for their learners.

Donations of hot water bottles with protective covers would make an incredible difference and help prevent unnecessary injuries and complications.

If you are able to donate, no matter how big or small, contact the school or drop donations off at reception. The school can be contacted on 011 817 9300, and is located at 32 Muriel Brand Street.
