Delivery rider flees armed attack in Sherwood Gardens, cellphone and groceries stolen

The rider abandoned his motorcycle to escape two armed men. His cellphone and groceries were stolen.

A delivery rider was robbed in Sherwood Gardens on November 16 after stopping at an address along Talbot Street to make a delivery.

According to information received from Brakpan SAPS, the incident took place at around 13:30. The rider, travelling on a Bajaj motorcycle, stopped outside the residence and hooted to alert the customer.

A small white vehicle with five occupants then pulled up beside him, and two men exited the vehicle. One was armed with a firearm, while the other had a knife.

Fearing for his safety, the rider abandoned the motorcycle and ran away. The gunman chased after him, but the rider managed to escape by jumping into a nearby yard.

When he returned a short while later, he discovered his cellphone and groceries valued at R300 had been stolen.

A case of armed robbery is under investigation.
