School gives back through Valentine’s food donation

Educators, learners and stakeholders came together at Thandimfundo Academy to support Village of Hope beneficiaries through a non-perishable food donation drive.

Thandimfundo Academy in Sonneveld is sharing the love this Valentine’s Month by helping others. On February 9, learners celebrated a day of showing love in the community by donating non-perishable food to underprivileged children.

The school chose local NPO Village of Hope to receive the donated items.

Village of Hope founder Tumie Masolane told the Brakpan Herald the NPO is grateful to the school’s management and staff for teaching learners that donating is a meaningful way of showing love, and that sharing with others is better than wasting food.

“We have seen love at that school. We appreciate the teachers, learners and the stakeholders that were present,” said Tumie.

Special thanks were given to Clement Motshana and Thuli Malatji, Ekurhuleni social workers, as well as the Village of Hope team, Georginah Matla and Tlhokomelo Masolane.
