The CoE maintained average water consumption below its licensed allocation over the past 12 months despite ongoing supply challenges in parts of Gauteng.

The city recorded an average daily consumption of 1 008 286kL below its licence target of 1 022 000kL. Stable usage levels have been sustained since February 2025.

“This makes the city one of the leading water champions in Gauteng,” the CoE said.

The municipality said the achievement was due to residents and businesses adhering to Level 1 water restrictions declared in 2024. It thanked consumers and urged them to continue conserving water, especially during warmer temperatures.

Level 1 water restrictions:
• Only water gardens between 06:00 and 18:00;
• Do not use hosepipes or sprinklers to clean driveways or sidewalks; use brooms or buckets instead;
• Do not use hosepipes to wash cars;
• Do not use potable/municipal water to fill swimming pools.

The city has recorded isolated supply interruptions in parts of Bedfordview and Tsakani, Geluksdal, Labore, and Langaville exts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6.

“Roving water tankers have been dispatched to affected areas,” the CoE said.
